Remy Martin XO Excellence Gold Cognac Limited Edition 2012 EU exclusive – Buy

t

Good evening,

i found the time to introduce to you the new Remy Martin XO Collector edition – no press release content of course.

From now on i ad the word buy to attract more clicks…

Anyway here is my review:

Being spoiled by the fabolous Hennessy XO editions, the Remy Martin Exclusive is not that impressive.

But they have a great customer service, therefore i try to be objective.

The Remy martin XO excellence 2012 limited edition comes in a gold foiled cardboard box. Exclusive limited Edition is stated one the box, which is designed without love or passion. Red letters on gold never work, since the letters look differnet than the other words printed on the box. The picture of the bottle on the box is done quiet well though.

The bottle comes in a 700ml edition with fine XO excellence Cognac by Remy Martin.

t

The backside of the bottle looks like a regular XO bottle. The front is painted with gold foil – looks liked airbrushed, but pretty decent therefore i like it. The stopper is made out of shiny golden plastic. Unfortunatly nothing about the design is mentioned on the box or the bottle. Im sure Remy Martin will improve its exclusive editions, because this is not top of the chain yet, as may be expected by this company.

But – its a must have for anyone thinking about building a serious collection for whatever reasons. The value will increase – nowadays everybody going crazy for Hennessy without checking the other houses. In a few years when they realised that Cognac is more than Hennessy – they will try to get the Remy stuff aswell – try to follow my point…

XO editions in gold seem to be the trend, Otard just release a golden XO and the new Hennessy XO 2013 edition is also gold foiled.

The Remy Martin bottle is not numbered, i prefer unnumbered collector editions by the way.

From Hennessy Bras Armé to Hennessy VS a short history in pictures

H

Although i already found some articles about this topic, here is my part of the story.

Please remember that i only write about stuff I own.

Anyway here is the short picture novel about the designs of the Hennessy VS ( Very Special )

Bottle number one was bottled either in the 60ties or 70ties.
This one has a stamp on it, HM Forces only. This is a mark to show that this bottle was sold at an army duty free store. As you may not know Germany is still occupied (in 2012) by British and American forces…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This bottle comes without a cork and taste stronger than the regular VS. Sorry that it is not sealed anymore but sometimes I have to try the stuff I own.
There are plenty designs of the old Bras Armé, this is one of about 8, in the 700ml size.
A few years later beginning of the 80ties Hennessy changed the design and the shape of the bottle.
Maybe it looked too grandpa, but I don’t know. An interesting thing is that the first bottle is still easy to get, about 50 Euros and you might get one or wont.

H

The second design almost looks like the one we can buy in any store, but there is one big difference the chest is still foil printed, like the xo´s nowadays still are. I just post the front right now, I do some single post in the near future. Although the name VS has not yet been established. This one has more value compared to the first one by the way.

H

The final bottle is the Hennessy VS 700ml from the end of the eighties – beginning nineties. This is why I wrote this post, because most authors just don’t mention them. It looks almost like the one you can buy in 2012. Maybe you recognize the difference if you don’t – just ask.
Take a bottle of today and compare it ( check out the center of the label )

I still have no opinion if the importer and the labels language matters to collectors. You can start a discussion in the comment segment. These are the German editions, every G 8 state has his own importers and comment, so you only have all bottles if you got a countries. I am satisfied with mine since I don’t discriminate other Cognachouses.

I guess Bras Armé lost its name due to copyright laws and EU regulations. Cognac is a trademark for a certain area in France, maybe they changed it to VS like all others did to have a certain standard like ISO.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Throw your five cent if you like, I am always eager to learn.

Cheers.

Hennessy VS Cognac x Colette x Futura limited 2012 edition

H

Hey, its a little bit borning to write about this bottle… Anyway this is the limited Futura x Colette bottle.

Limited release, 213 have been released. For those who do not know colette:

H

its an online shop with quite nice pieces. Their customer service is bullshit though. They dont reply on emails or any wishes and most things are 2 times overpriced.

I had to get this bottle just to make sure that i got the series complete.

Hennessy tries, quite successful, to generate new customers. They aim at the hipster – sneakercollector -us customer with this series.

H

I guess every year will be a colette release if Hennessy teams up with any artist-

The Futura series has a regular edition. the colette edition and in about 2 months the regular in a one liter edition.

Pretty boring aint it?

H

Did you see the new Flask 2012 series by the way? I wont get them, they look like some designer spent too much time at the circus.

Enjoy the few pictures.

Jimmy Hennessy Cognac – In adventures lies the truth

thesophsiticatedcollector.com

I love to introduce the Jimmy Hennessy Cognac to you my dear readers.

This Cognac seems to be a little bit harder to find than the average Hennessy products. Nether the less i got one and i actually like to sell it.

Anyway the Jimmy Hennessy was released in 1999 and that is where my info ends.

The Jimmy Hennessy looked like a bootleg to me first, but after browsing the web i made sure that it is something official.

Pretty unique compared to other Cognacs is that the Jimmy has 42 % and not 40 or 43% that most Cognacs have.

jimmy-hennessy-cognac-left-thesophisticatedcollector-com

The bottle looks like an American Whisky bottle and not like the decanters we are used to.

In adventures lies truth is written all over the bottle. I guess the adventure was to attract some whiskylovers. i guess it didn´t work because there is almost nothing to find on the web and therefore i seemed to be flop, when it comes to sales.

Please enjoy the pictures and ad me to your favorites.

My personal favorite Cognac : Club de Rémy Martin

90% of all my bottles will never be opened for consumption, as long as I got them of course.

The missing 10 % will be Remy Martin Club bottles, I love it. You might ask why, so go on reading:

When I took a few months off last year, I travelled through Vietnam. Quite soon I figured out that every town has a liquor store. Those liquor stores are the absolute opposite of German liquor stores because the stores in Vietnam only have the highest quality spirits you can find, even in the smallest town. They had bottles which I could not even buy in wholesalestores about 100 miles around my hometown…

One day I saw I bottle that I had never seen before: the Remy Martin Club. Since I only had one backpack, even if I wanted to, I could not buy all the things I saw. I decided to buy a 350ml of Club de Remy Martin and kept it in my backpack for over one month. Compared to many over products the price was absolutely high, lets say a “European” price. I still got it and it is still sealed by the way.
Today I buy all Club bottles I can find.

I guess that is enough with my personal obsession with this one. Let´s start the interesting part:

The decanter is pretty unique compared to other products in the low price segment. The bottle is octagonal with a big belly and a very thin neck. It looks luxurious to people who do not waste their time with collecting Cognac. The Stopper is made out of cork with a heavy gold foiled metal top.

On the decanters chest is a metal plate with the Remy Martin logo = Le Centaure.

It was not easy to get appropriate information about the Club since its production is discontinued.
German Wikipedia says that it won a medal in 2004, I do not know how because the production stopped 17 years ago…

The club was available in many different designs and sizes, depending year and country where it was sold. The octagonal shape always stayed the same.

You can see some of the different editions at the end of this post, for details post a comment, I try to reply via email.
The Remy Martin Club targeted the Asian market and you can still find them in many stores over there.

The taste:

This is hard to tell, everyone himself should try it, because everyone has a different sense of taste.
To me it has a sweet taste, beginning with honey before after about 3 seconds the typical burning of spirits set in. It leaves smooth and quick as it had appeared. Try for yourself. You should know that it does absolutely not match with softdrinks, Cola for example. Mix VS or VSOP with Coke but not the Club ( Excuse moi, je suis un petit home bórne )

Enjoy my pictures!
